Miller-Valentine and Coastal Storage Group Break Ground on Self-Storage Projects in Three States
Miller-Valentine Construction, a general contractor with offices in Columbia and Charleston, South Carolina, and Coastal Storage Group, a self-storage development company based in Charleston, South Carolina, are preparing to break ground on self-storage developments in Florida, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
“We are excited to construct a modern, secure, state-of-the-art, class-A facilities to rapidly growing markets in these three states,” said Steve Koewler, President, Miller-Valentine Group. “Costal Storage strategically selected these sites for their close proximity to residential and commercial customers. The convenient location and expert management of these developments will fill a gap in self-storage options in these communities.”
Lakeland, Florida – Miller-Valentine is constructing a three-story 97,200-square-foot facility along the highly visible retail corridor of Lakeland Highlands Road and Polk Parkway in south Lakeland. The Lakeland facility will offer secure building access with unit sizes ranging from 5’x5’ lockers to 10’x30’ units. Miller-Valentine Construction will break ground on the project in February with an anticipated opening in the spring of 2022. Cube Smart, a real estate investment trust and third-party management company will oversee leasing activities. This is the third Florida-based class-A self-storage facility for Miller-Valentine Construction.
Nicholasville, Kentucky – Construction is also expected to begin in February on a self-storage project in Nicholasville, Kentucky. The 96,621-square-foot facility will be located in the expanding Brannon Crossing mixed-use corridor of East Brannon Road. The three-story Class-A facility will offer full climate-controlled units ranging in size from 5’x5’ lockers to 10’x25’ units. Design elements will include a decorative façade, accent landscaping, and controlled access. This is the first Kentucky-based project for both companies. Cube Smart will oversee lease-up and property management starting in the spring of 2022.
Knoxville, Tennessee – A February groundbreaking is also expected on the second Knoxville, Tennessee-based class-A self-storage facility. The three-story, 90,171-square-foot facility will sit adjacent to the Rutledge Pike and I-40 interchange in northeast Knoxville. Construction is expected to wrap up in the spring of 2022.
Miller-Valentine Construction will serve as the general contractor on all three facilities.
