Maintaining High Standards for Safety

Our safety policy involves all phases of the construction business. Rigid safety rules are identified for each and every project, and the project superintendent administers these rules, ensuring that all aspects of the firm’s safety policy are carried out. Our safety guidelines include regular, thorough inspections and reviews by the Safety Director. With these policies actively enforced, serious accidents are virtually non‐existent. Our clients benefit from fewer job‐site interruptions and quality construction, which results from such high standards of safety.

In July of 2007, Miller‐Valentine Construction was awarded OSHA’s prestigious Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) “Star” designation, their highest recognition for contractors with superior safety programs. At the time, we were the only contractor in the nation to hold a statewide designation. Traditionally, companies have only been given this designation in the local OSHA area office jurisdiction. In September 2016, Miller‐Valentine Construction was re‐certified under this same program for another five years.

Miller‐Valentine is proud to be an Accredited Quality Contractor. Miller‐Valentine has demonstrated outstanding commitment to its employees, clients, and community to earn the certification. The AQC publicly recognizes and honors those construction firms which have documented their commitment in five key areas of corporate responsibility:

  • Quality
  • Safety (STEP Gold or Platinum Level)
  • Employee Benefits
  • Training
  • Community Relations

The Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) is a nationally recognized safety program sponsored by the Associated Builders and Contractors. The award is based upon the cumulative score of twenty key components. Miller‐Valentine was the first recipient of the ABC Organization’s Diamond Level award in 2013.
